Join us at UAC!
SFAS along with other West Coast astrological groups will have an information table at the United Astrology Conference. Volunteers are needed to help keep the table open. In the vendor's hall this will be a great place to hang out with local friends and to meet new people. At conferences we usually run into locals who aren't familiar with local resources, so this booth will make it easier to make new connections with our neighbors and to let folks coming to the Bay Area know when and where to meet the astrologers. This is a great opportunity to network for the group and for yourself! Please contact Fabienne at events@sfastrologicalsociety.com to volunteer.

Matthew Stelzner
The Man Who Killed Pluto
Matthew will present an astrological analysis of astronomer Mike Brown's natal chart. What Pluto aspects does the man responsible for the "death" of Pluto have? This question and many more will be addressed tonight. We will look at Brown"s major transits for important developments in his career including the discovery of the Kuiper Belt objects which lead up to the dramatic change of status for Pluto. Matthew will explore Brown"s compelling argument for this reclassification of Pluto, and its implications for astrologers. Then, using Brown's own guidelines for the definition of a planet, we will explore contrasting criteria for how astrologers might define a planet from our own unique perspective.
Matthew Stelzner is a professional astrologer who has been practicing astrology in San Francisco for the last fifteen years. He practices a unique form of archetypal astrology, which he learned from Richard Tarnas and Stanislav Grof during his years as a graduate student at the California Institute of Integral Studies. He has completed coursework both towards a Ph.D. in Humanities and towards an M.A. degree in counseling psychology. For ten years Matthew worked for Grof Transpersonal Training, where he helped train people in Grof's method called Holotropic Breathwork, and also taught 6-day astrology workshops both in the United States and internationally. He is currently a faculty member for the newly formed Institute of Archetypal Cosmology, which offers courses in archetypal astrology to students both in the San Francisco bay area and online. Matthew also hosts an internet broadcast called Correlations: the Archetypal Astrology Podcast, which is available through iTunes.
