Speaker Change -- November

We are very sorry to report that Phil Sedgwick will not be able to be with us in November. The good news, however, is that Dana Gerhardt will be here from Oregon to talk on Thursday about "Meeting the Planets with a Magical Mind" and she will give a workshop that Saturday, November 20 from 10am to 5pm on "Venus Retrograde: Desire, Seduction, and Mastery"

You can save $5 and pre-register for the Saturday Workshop via Pay-Pal!

Astrology Classes for Beginners!

SFAS Satellite Classes
Starting in October we are offering a series of beginning classes in astrology to meet the first Thursday of the month in a living room near you! Focusing on one planet at a time in the charts of the students this is a great, hands-on approach to learning the basics of astrology. San Francisco's International Astrology Day was such a success that we are already planning for next year on Saturday March 19, 2011!
Thanks especially to our wonderful speakers, and also to the volunteers who made it possible. Of course everyone who showed up contributed to its success. Without the participation of speakers, volunteers and all our attendees we couldn't have done it!
Thanks to all of you!
See you next year!

Our 2010 Calendar is Online!

And at our Facebook page we also invite you to arrange carpools with other members and friends.

New to Astrology

Read about the various types of astrology and how different techniques are used for a variety of situations and circumstances on the New to Astrology page.

Our New Solar System

With the discovery of the dwarf planet Eris, our solar system is no longer the same. Gone is Pluto as a planet (of course, we astrologers know better) and it's harder for an astrologer to keep up with what's up in our solar system. During this presentation, a new look is taken at the solar system including an assessment of all the solar system's groups: planets (and categories thereof), asteroids, centaurs and potential Oort cloud bodies. Finally, a reason will be given as to the how and whys of Pluto's potency, despite being "plutoed."

Workshop: Snow White and the Seven Dwarves

A new, yet unnamed dwarf planet, colloquially dubbed Snow White by the astronomical community now does its thing upon the horoscopes we interpret, whether we consider it or not. This planet works hand in hand with the other astronomically accepted dwarf planets: Ceres, Pluto (Charon), Eris, Sedna, Makemake and Haumea (and possibly Orcus, Varuna, Quaoar and more). But first, we'll reset the stage. We'll examine how we got in this mess. The implications of our vastly expanded solar system will be included and then we dive into the powerful influences and interpretive value of these bodies. We'll consider heaps of charts of persons and events.

Philip Sedgwick began his study of astrology long before any of the current astrological/astronomical controversies. He's been at it four decades and constantly and continuously probes the leading edge of astronomy to give astrologers the latest and greatest information on the solar system and beyond. He has written columns for numerous magazines and columns including America West Airlines, the Science Fiction Channel online, Tarot.com and the Huffington Post. Compiling the best of his discoveries, he published the Galactic Trilogy - a CD containing ephemerides of centaurs, dwarf planets and galactic phenomena combined with three full length treatises on astronomy, interpretations for the data files and heliocentric astrology. Philip now dedicates a large portion of time writing for the entertainment industry. Recently, he was runner up (2nd place) with one of his scripts in the Independent Short Film and Music Awards festival. Regardless of treading in two worlds, he remains focused on expanding the scope of his astrological work into realms few have dared explore.
