Join us at UAC!
SFAS along with other West Coast astrological groups will have an information table at the United Astrology Conference. Volunteers are needed to help keep the table open. In the vendor's hall this will be a great place to hang out with local friends and to meet new people. At conferences we usually run into locals who aren't familiar with local resources, so this booth will make it easier to make new connections with our neighbors and to let folks coming to the Bay Area know when and where to meet the astrologers. This is a great opportunity to network for the group and for yourself! Please contact Fabienne at events@sfastrologicalsociety.com to volunteer.

2012 and Beyond
In our now-traditional finale to the year's programs, some of the Bay Area's top Geo-Political Astrologers will share their views of the year ahead.
Astrologer, writer and cultural commentator Jessica Murray brings to light the spiritual underpinnings that shape both the personal and collective experience of our time. In her private practice, Jessica draws from her knowledge of many metaphysical traditions to provide her clients with a sense of the big picture. Her readers and students are given an understanding of how they might respond, rather than merely react, to these turbulent times.
Jessica trained as a fine artist before graduating in 1973 from Brown University, where she studied Jungian psychology and linguistics. After a few years in a political theatre troupe, Jessica began a study of the symbolic language of archetypes, and has been practicing and teaching astrology in San Francisco for thirty-five years. In addition to her monthly Skywatch, Jessica now offers a lecture series that describes the years of the Cardinal Crossroads (2010-2015), illuminating its major transits in vivid detail. Her book, Soul-Sick Nation: An Astrologer's View of America, is an in-depth study of the United States from an astrological perspective. Jessica writes regular blogs on her website, and for multiple publications, including The Mountain Astrologer Magazine and DaykeeperJournal.com.
Jessica also offers a full range of astrological readings; by phone or in-office, in a professional, comfortable setting complete with a pot of fine tea.
Out With the Old and In With the New:Jessica will look at the square between Uranus and Pluto as it applies to the Sibly chart. The years of the transit's exactitude, 2012-16, will hit America especially hard; bringing to the fore a series of breakdowns that continue peaking through Pluto's tenure in Capricorn. Among the themes rearing their heads right now and upcoming: the clash between Uranian technology and old forms of social cohesion, such as the poor old post office; and the disparity between the American ideal of a class-free society (Uranus) and the increasing reality of a plutocratic income gap.
Duncan Nanney has been a full time professional astrologer for 37 years. Currently operating out of his San Jose office, Duncan has done personal consultations for over 4000 clients and is known for his clear, practical language and a dry sense of humor. Duncan is certified by Professional Astrologers Incorporated. He has lectured locally for many years and has appeared on many radio an television programs.
The Square Hits Home
The developing Uranus-Pluto square is on everyone's minds
these days in our own personal natal charts. But how will it affect the
charts for California, and for that matter, the charts of San Francisco,
Governor Brown, and the United States? Duncan Nanney will examine
not only the effects of Uranus and Pluto on California's charts but
what other transiting planets and astrological influences suggest for
our future.
