Speaker Change -- November

We are very sorry to report that Phil Sedgwick will not be able to be with us in November. The good news, however, is that Dana Gerhardt will be here from Oregon to talk on Thursday about "Meeting the Planets with a Magical Mind" and she will give a workshop that Saturday, November 20 from 10am to 5pm on "Venus Retrograde: Desire, Seduction, and Mastery"

You can save $5 and pre-register for the Saturday Workshop via Pay-Pal!

San Francisco's International Astrology Day was such a success that we are already planning for next year on Saturday March 19, 2011!
Thanks especially to our wonderful speakers, and also to the volunteers who made it possible. Of course everyone who showed up contributed to its success. Without the participation of speakers, volunteers and all our attendees we couldn't have done it!
Thanks to all of you!
See you next year!

Harmonics and Aspects, Ancient and Modern by Joseph Crane

There is no more confusing feature of modern astrology than aspects. Which aspects are most important? How do we know the difference between the strong aspects and the weak ones? What is the relationship between the aspects' degree numbers and the signs brought together by aspect? How do we use "out of sign aspects," and why or why not should we use them? How do modern astrological harmonics impact our understanding of aspects?

In this lecture we will take a comparative approach. Ancient astrologers thought about aspects in terms of music/ harmony and modern astrologers consider aspects related to arithmetical division.

Ideas about aspects from ancient and modern astrology are strongly influenced by their differing conceptions about the universe.

You will also discover how ancient and modern astrologers approach harmonics differently.

You will see chart examples to illustrate all of these ideas.

By teasing out differences between ancient and modern thinking about aspects you will have a better sense of their role in the astrology you practice.

Joseph Crane has been an astrologer, teacher and writer on astrology since the 1980's. Since the early 1990's he has developed and taught training programs on astrological techniques and counseling skills for astrologers.
