Dangerous Women: Another Look at Moon/Venus in the Charts of Remarkable Women
What makes a woman dangerous? Astrology’s Moon and Venus were framed by men in a much older world. Exaltations, rulerships and debilities derive from that frame: Venus in Scorpio, in Aries and Virgo suggest a problematic Venus life; ditto for Moon in Scorpio and Capricorn. So what to make of a century in which the synodic Venus families fall in these “difficult” placements? How to understand the arrival of Eris and Black Moon Lilith? Who were some of the women who carried these signatures, and what impact have they had, for all people, on life in the 21st century? We’ll look at the synodic cycles of Venus, and Mars/Venus to see the pattern of evolution of a “dangerous” Venus, and horoscopes of women from the last three centuries,
Carol Ferris, M.A., practices astrology in Portland, Oregon, where she consults with clients one on one; writes; teaches and tutors one on one and groups; is a visiting lecturer at Portland School of Astrology; and taught Symbolism and Cosmology at Portland’s National School of Natural Medicine. She completed her Masters in Interdisciplinary Studies at Marylhurst University, Lake Oswego, Oregon, in 2013. The title of her thesis, “The Sky’s Body: Constellations and Medicine” reflects her ongoing interest in the nature-based medicine and governance thinking of the ancient Near East and Chinese philosophers and astrologers. She is currently researching PhD programs to continue her studies.
