Shawn Nygaard

Neptune’s Immensities

During the Romantic Era, in 1853, while Neptune was last transiting Pisces, prominent art critic, painter, and prolific writer John Ruskin noted, “The imagination is never governed. It is always the ruling and Divine power.”  This talk explores the complexities, confusions and other-worldly realities of the planet Neptune, including the wide-ranging terrain of Romanticism, enchantment, the god Dionysus (god of theatre and wine), poetry, escapism, Eternity, timelessness, illusion, glamour, and fantasy – all of which thrive via imagination.  Film clips help illustrate the topics, and includes a number of chart examples.
