First post of the new SFAS WordPress Blog

Nora-Jean-Stone-2012

I want to say “Hi” to the visitors who come to the San Francisco Astrological Society WordPress website.  I’m Nora Jean Stone, Dir. of Publicity and Outreach and “Temporary” Web Mistress. It is my hope that with the WordPress platform other members of the Steering Committee will find it easy to post to our blog, sharing their special astrological events, links to articles they’ve written, or to just do a “drive by howdy” when they have a minute.

It is very exciting to have a WordPress website. It gives us all the opportunity to update the site from any browser. That’s why I say I’m the “Temporary” Web Mistress. With WordPress everyone can join in on the fun of adding original content.

Be sure to stop by our Social Network page. So you can follow us on Twitter, join our Facebook group or “like” our Facebook page. We have a Flickr account which will be getting some new photos, especially of the last Fort Mason meeting at the end of 2013, which also was when Linea Van Horne stepped down from being President and took over the Vice President role. Ian Waisler took over the position of President. Rasha took over being Secretary from Jen Williams, who retired. Also retired were Elizabeth Barton and Fabienne Lopez, who were Vice President and Dir. Special Events respectively. The Director of Membership has a new volunteer, Michael Engemann and you see seen the current members of the Steering Committee on our “About us” page.

Another big change for SFAS is our location. We bid good-bye to Fort Mason after many years and due to redevelopment that is scheduled for Fort Mason we were not able to make arrangements to have our meetings there.

Our new location is The Women’s Building 3543 18th St., San Francisco, CA, 94110, in the Mission District. Click on the link to find directions. This area has gone through gentrification in the last few years and there are a lot of new restaurants in that area. There are many ways to get to The Women’s Building via public transit and if you’re coming in from the East Bay come and join our Facebook Group as post for a car poll, a week or so ahead of the meeting. There are members coming from all over the bay, buddy up and have a smaller carbon foot print.

So that’s a lot of news from our side of the computer monitor. Let us know on our social networks what you’re up to. Are you going to any astrology events? Are you wondering about a certain transit or a good ritual for a new moon, use the social network channels and let us hear from you. Until then I’m happy to get back to fleshing out this website.

<3 Namaste

Nora
